Savory Pastry Pie
Savory pastry will be one of the best choices at the weekend breakfast when the entire family is gathered. You will be all about enjoying a fresh pastry not only for breakfast; but also it is just as good for dinner. It's surely beyond doubt that you will serve this tasty food to your friends with tea.
It, is called in my country "börek", has variety stuffings; with white cheese, with spinach, with minced meat, with potato, with vegetables, etc... You may also enrich the stuffing by your taste buds.
Here is the recipe of the savory pastry pie with white cheese.
Savory Pastry Pie with white cheese
Ingredients:
3 sheets of filo pastry (in Turkish "yufka")
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup olive oil
For stuffing:
1+1/2 cup white cheese (or whatever cheese you like), mashed with the help of a fork
1/2 cup kashar cheese, grated
1/2 bunch parsley, chopped finely
For topping:
sessame , nigella
Instructions:
1- For stuffing in a bowl mix mashed white cheese, grated kashar cheese and chopped parsley until well incorporated.
2- Whisk eggs with milk and oil in another bowl.
3-Grease a baking tray and spread one layer of a filo pastry on the tray (You can spread 3 layers from one sheet of filo pastry), then brush it with milk mixture.
Repeat this step five times, then put the stuffing mixture in the middle and continue with another five layers of filo pastry with milk mixture in between.
Cut into squares, and brush the top of unbaked pie with surplus mixture.
Sprinkle sessame seeds and nigella.
4-Place the tray in the oven and cook it at 200C until the top of pie turns golden brown.
Cut the squares once again from the same place.
5- Serve hot or at room temperature.
